
BRAIN-PROTECT is a Dutch multi-center research project founded to investigate the epidemiology of and to make improvements on the prehospital treatment of severe traumatic brain injured (TBI) patients.
Ambulance Personnel, Helicopter Mobile Medical Teams, Emergency Physicians and Trauma Centers work together within this consortium with the aim to improve treatment and outcome of patients suffering from severe TBI. Currently, patient inclusion has stopped.

Current prehospital treatment of patients with suspected severe TBI is based on marginal evidence, and optimal treatment is basically unknown. The BRAIN-PROTECT study provides the unique opportunity to evaluate and compare different treatment strategies with respect to patient outcomes.
